Daily Excursions to and from Hotel: Brown-Forman Cooperage, Woodford Reserve Distillery & Keeneland Racecourse

Join us April 14th and 15th for an amazing 1½ day event which includes a visit to the Brown-Forman Cooperage which was founded in 1945, a Friday night dinner at the Bourbon Themed Marriott Louisville East, a Saturday brunch and tour at Woodford Reserve Distillery and then you’ll end the day at the historic Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington!  Don’t know much about betting on the horses?  That’s ok, a handicapper will share some tips during the Friday night reception!

Brown-Forman is the only spirits company in the world that makes its own barrels at the Brown-Forman Cooperage. During this behind the scenes tour, you’ll see the lumber yard, view the artful selection of staves and barrel assembly, charring and the finishing section.  You’ll also witness the historic art of barrel raising, powerful sounds and the smell of burning oak which are present every day at the cooperage.

Woodford Reserve, a National Historic Landmark located in the heart of Bluegrass Country amid scenic thoroughbred horse farms, is the oldest distillery currently in operation since 1790 featuring ancient stone and copper pot stills.  You’ll enjoy brunch at the distillery along with a special tour that includes a guided education explaining the history of bourbon, how Woodford Reserve is unique at all five sources of flavor, the bottling process, and much more. At the end of the tour, guests 21 and over can taste their award-winning craft bourbon for themselves in the visitors’ center.

Ouita Michel, Woodford Reserve Chef-in-Residence, will join us during the sumptuous brunch that she’ll be providing. Chef Ouita’s work earns accolades from local and national fans of her cuisine. Bourbon aficionados will find all her restaurants along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail — watch for Bourbon in some of the menus! She has been a James Beard Foundation Award nominee as Best Chef in the Southeast numerous times, competing against chefs in major metropolitan areas. Her restaurants are regularly featured in local and national media, such as USA Today, Wine Spectator, Garden & Gun, Southern Living and The New York Times.

A block of rooms is available at a rate of $129 (plus applicable state and local taxes, currently 16.07%) until March 14 at the Bourbon Themed Marriott Louisville East located at 1903 Embassy Square Blvd, Louisville Kentucky. The Marriott Louisville East is an Award Winning 2015 MARRIOTT HOTEL OF THE YEAR, West Region and the official hotel of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail!
