Join us April 14-15 for a one-of-a-kind event steeped in Kentucky's most celebrated cultural experiences: horseracing and fine Kentucky bourbon!

Your visit begins Friday afternoon with a trip to the fabulous Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs, home to the most famous two minutes in sports, the Kentucky Derby.  Experience the heart-pounding action of the Derby in the award winning 360-degree multi-media presentation of "The Greatest Race", followed by an up-close-and-personal look at the Kentucky Derby with the museum Curator of Education who will share his unique perspective on Kentucky Derby history, traditions, economics and science. You’ll also enjoy a 30 minute guided historic walking tour of Churchill Downs and interactive exhibits in the museum!

Friday evening, you'll get a master class in bourbon's aging process through Brown-Forman's Director of Wood Resources, Greg Roshkowski.  Great bourbon is born in fine barrels, and Brown-Forman is the only distiller that makes its own barrels.  Greg will share the historic art of barrel-raising present every day at the Brown-Forman Cooperage, and you'll have the opportunity to try your hand at the craft. Then it's off to a bourbon-themed dinner with Woodford Reserve brand ambassador, Cat Platz.  In addition to learning how a barrel is made, you'll hear from two horseracing handicappers who will help you prepare to place your bets on Saturday at historic Keeneland in Lexington.

Woodford Reserve, a National Historic Landmark located in the heart of Bluegrass Country amid scenic thoroughbred horse farms, is the oldest distillery currently in operation since 1790 featuring ancient stone and copper pot stills. You’ll enjoy brunch at the distillery along with a special tour that includes a guided education explaining the history of bourbon, how Woodford Reserve is unique at all five sources of flavor, the bottling process, and much more.

Ouita Michel, Woodford Reserve Chef-in-Residence, will join us during the sumptuous brunch that she’ll be providing. Chef Ouita’s work earns accolades from local and national fans of her cuisine. Bourbon aficionados will find all her restaurants along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail — watch for Bourbon in some of the menus! She has been a James Beard Foundation Award nominee as Best Chef in the Southeast numerous times, competing against chefs in major metropolitan areas. Her restaurants are regularly featured in local and national media, such as USA Today, Wine Spectator, Garden & Gun, Southern Living and The New York Times.
