Let’s talk cocktails and bitters – two things that go deliciously with bourbon. The following cocktails were served at the Bourbon, Bitters, and Bites class in Indianapolis on Nov 29th at Gallery Pastry Bar with support from Kroger!
Little Black Dress – Black Manhattan riff
2 oz Monk’s Road Fifth District Series II
1/2 oz Cynar
1/2 oz Averna
1 bar spoon cherry liqueur
1 dash of black currant bitters
1 dash of chocolate bitters
Garnish: luxardo
finishing spray: mezcal OR black currant
Combine ingredients (except for finishing spray) in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir for 30 seconds, then strain into a cocktail glass with a large cube. Garnish.
I’m the Favorite – Pecan/Maple Old Fashioned
2 oz Monk’s Road Wheated
1/2 oz pecan-infused maple syrup
1 dash of orange bitters
1 dash chickory pecan bitters
garnish: orange peel/candied pecans
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir for 30 seconds, then strain into a cocktail glass with a large cube. Garnish.
Be Naughty – Holiday Sour
2 oz Rattle and Snap 4 yr
3/4 oz Holiday Spice Syrup
3/4 oz lemon juice
2 dashes smoked cinnamon bitters
Garnish: drops of walnut oil and bitters plus brittle or cookie
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake for 10-12 seconds and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish.
