In March earlier this year, we headed down to the Big Easy for a smashing weekend and to enjoy the New Orleans Bourbon Festival. We had a special VIP lounge for Bourbon Women members who were in New Orleans and hosted a special panel discussion with female Master Distillers.
This panel was pretty incredible because of the diversity of distilleries represented. There were large, well-known distilleries like Michter’s and small, family-owned operations like Jeptha Creed and Silverback. Alongside them were operations like Old Dominick from Memphis and the oft talked about, Castle & Key Distillery. But, despite how fabulously different these distilleries are, the women all had something in common: they had risen to the top of their industry through their determination, how much they care about their staff and how deeply they strive to create amazing products. Their conversation covered everything from bottle design to working alongside your family members.
It was such a treat to be in the room with these women during the day, and then spend the rest of the sessions learning more and more about bourbon. And, of course, we love the Festival’s Grand Tasting, where we can sample some of New Orlean’s great food purveyors, and try lots of bourbons all in one place!
