This Peacock Preferred single barrel selection, from Milam & Greene based in Blanco, Texas is a gorgeous example of an intriguing and balanced rye that is perfect for the true bourbon enthusiast. Its palate and mouthfeel are exceptional for its age of 4 years and 2 months representing a smooth and complex high proof rye weighing in at 114.6.

While the mashbill may be one used frequently in the industry for American rye at 95% rye and 5% malted barley, it’s an easy and seductive sip.

Tasting notes from the Peacock Preferred selection panel: Intriguingly multi-layered nose with notes of Butterscotch, caramel, apple, lemon balm, toffee, raisins, toasted pecans, and a pinch of mint. Wood pops on an earthy palate that includes caramelized corn, loads of dark fruit – raisins, dates – cinnamon candy, and leather. The finish is long, warm, rich, and complex. Beautifully balanced!
