The Dark Side
2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey (95 – 110 proof)
.25 oz Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth
.75 oz Amaro Averna
8 drops Woodford Reserve’s Sorghum & Sassafras Bitters
4 drops Bittermans Elamakule Tiki Bitters
Lemon Peel & Cocktail Cherry speer
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir until well-chilled and strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a high quality cocktail cherry and a lemon peel.

The Manhattan is a whiskey classic, but it’s time to darken it with a little addition of amaro, the classic Italian digestif liqueur. Amaros are bitter by nature, so a little goes a long way in a drink. Pair the amaro with some tasty bitters like Sorghum and Sassafras and some tiki bitters, and you’ve got a truly lovely drink!
